Harmony

This section is concerned with keys, chords and scales. A number of the activities include opportunities to develop listening skills by, for example, identifying intervals and scales aurally. Indeed, many of the tasks support students’ knowledge and experience of music theory and act as preparation for composition tasks, which demand the ability to manipulate chords and keys. The challenging nature of many of the concepts covered – triads, inversions and cadences, and so on – mean that the activities in this section are likely to be particularly appropriate to Key Stage 4/GCSE students.
