Detailed data about barriers to learning

School leaders can now benefit from powerful information about their local area, thanks to Pearson Publishing's Confidential Reports - Community issues.

National data on ten different measures of deprivation is used to create detailed maps of the school's local area, which can then be overlaid with the distribution of pupils' homes (using anonymised postcode data supplied by the school). The result is a set of compelling documents that can show exactly which social and economic issues are most likely to affect the pupils at the school.

These reports are set to be an invaluable tool for heads as they look to remove barriers to learning and make sure all pupils are receiving the support they need. They are also an ideal way to show Ofsted how the school is using hard data to inform its pastoral and academic provision, or to back up statements about the problems that staff and pupils face.
