Introduction

In the introduction to this resource, it was established that tired teachers are not effective teachers and a culture of long hours is not conducive to raising standards. The idea that teachers are working 53 to 60 hours each week needs to be a distant memory. The National Workload Agreement needs not only to change the pattern of teachers’ working lives, but also the time that they need to take to meet all the needs and requirements of their job. In other words, change the job and work smarter and not longer because, as well as being professional and raising standards, another goal of managing time effectively is to create more time for yourself and the things that you enjoy.
