Technical guide
InContexT: SEN is designed to be used directly from the CD-ROMs provided. There is an HTML interface for navigation around the training material, which also provides some basic user help. A Web browser is required to view the interface. Any Web browser should work, but Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 or above, or Netscape version 4 or above, is recommended.
The training material is provided on the CD-ROMs in the form of PDF (portable document format) files. To view the PDF files, Adobe Acrobat Reader, or other software capable of reading PDF files, is required. The help text in the interface provides instructions suitable for users of Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6, but the PDF files themselves should work with any PDF-viewing software.
An installer for version 6 of Adobe Acrobat Reader for Microsoft Windows, Acrobat Reader Installer.exe is provided at the top level of the CD-ROMs. A version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for Apple Macintosh is provided in the Extras folder at the top level of the CD-ROMs. Users of other platforms will need to obtain a PDF viewer from elsewhere.
The CD-ROMs are designed to be readable under any modern operating system.
Installing InContexT: SEN on a network
To make InContexT: SEN available over a network, copy the contents of each CD-ROM to a separate suitable read-only location on a file server, and create shortcuts on each workstation pointing to the Index.html files at the top level of each disc. From the first disc, the file Index.html, and the folders Interface, Material and Install are needed. From the second disc, the file Index.html, and the folders Interface and Material are needed. The other files and folders can be removed from the networked copy. Alternatively, you can make a separate copy of the contents of the CD-ROMs on each workstation.
Each workstation will need to have a PDF viewer and a Web browser installed.
