Presentations/handouts

Presentations

For many of the starters in this resource, Microsoft® PowerPoint slides, or ‘presentations’, are included for projection in the classroom. This format has been chosen to reduce the need for distributing prompt sheets for each student and to increase the impact of the starter activity. Those fortunate enough to have ready access to an interactive whiteboard may wish to prepare these presentations for projection. Alternatively, the presentations are also compatible with A4 transparencies for an overhead projector, or they can be printed out and photocopied as required (see Printable version).

Handouts

Handouts for use in the starter activities have been included, where appropriate, as Microsoft® Word documents. These can be edited, printed out and photocopied as required. They have been provided to help the MFL teacher save time, but their use is optional: the teacher may prefer students to copy the contents of the handouts shown on the OHP into their exercise books before beginning the activity.

For ease and convenience, instructions on the handouts have been provided in English. However, these can be adapted by the MFL teacher as required.

French, Spanish and German examples

The activities have been chosen for the ease with which they can be adapted to the teaching of any modern foreign language. For many activities, multilingual examples (French, Spanish and German) have been provided. To find out which activities have examples in the language you are teaching, refer to the language index. Alternatively, look for the appropriate flag (French , Spanish , German ) next to the title of each activity.

All multilingual examples are provided on the presentations or handouts in the following order:

  • French
  • Spanish
  • German.

You may need to scroll through the whole handout/presentation to find the examples you require.
