Students have to offer their opinion of each of the school subjects illustrated in the presentation.

This activity can be differentiated for the less able by giving them a text ‘crib sheet’ of opinions from which to choose their answers – this list may even be divided into positive and negative statements. The more able can be challenged to express a different opinion for each subject.

Since the teaching objective is based upon adding to students’ existing vocabulary, you may wish to add expressions to their repertoire of opinions. This can be done by providing a textual prompt that includes such phrases for all students. They are then challenged to match the new phrases to their ability to express their opinion of their school subjects. Students should be fully familiar with the vocabulary for school subjects so that they can more fully focus on the teaching objective of extending their vocabulary with expressions of opinion.
