Introduction
Practical Skills for ICT: IGCSE is designed to help students prepare for the
University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) International GCSE (IGCSE) in information and communication technology (ICT) (2011 and 2012 syllabi). It provides guidance and tasks based on the practical elements of the examination (Papers 2 and 3), which make up 60% of the final marks. It should be used in conjunction with the Student Handbook for ICT: IGCSE published by
Pearson Publishing, which is designed to cover the theoretical (knowledge and understanding) elements of the examination (Paper 1).
The IGCSE ICT examination is designed to prepare students for A- and AS-Level study and to equip them with skills for employment. The parts of the syllabi that are covered in Practical Skills for ICT: IGCSE are listed below, with the relevant section of this resource beside each part:
