Welcome to Preparing for Ofsted: Art & Design.

This second edition of Preparing for Ofsted: Art & Design is designed to help an Art & Design department prepare for inspection according to the requirements applicable from September 2005, following the Framework for the inspection of schools in England from September 2005.

The new requirements introduce substantial changes to the inspection process. The emphasis on self-evaluation, the shorter notice period, and the minimal time that inspectors spend in school mean that all members of the school need to maintain a state of readiness for inspection. This resource is designed to help the Art & Design department evaluate its strengths and weaknesses effectively and collate appropriate evidence to support the evaluation, so that you and your staff are well-placed to receive inspectors when they visit.
