Liaising and communicating

If you are to work effectively with parents, good communication is crucial. Any form of communication – whether you are conducting a meeting, initiating written correspondence or simply talking informally to parents – should be seen as a two-way process and part of the overall partnership between parents and the school.

This section looks at how you can establish a clear sense of purpose and a sense of trust, honesty and objectivity to ensure that communication is positive and progressive. It is aimed at members of staff who have direct contact with parents.
