Involving parents

Getting parents involved in their child’s learning is crucial to raising school standards and improving the school’s effectiveness.

Involvement can take many forms. Parents can be encouraged to help their children with their work. They can also be encouraged to participate in school life, eg as a volunteer or parent governor. In essence, parents need to know how the school works and what their role is in helping their children learn. If parents have an accepted place in the system, they will be better able to contribute to the school, and their children will reap the benefits.

This section focuses on how parents can help their child and their child’s school.
