Introduction
There is no doubt that when parents are involved in their child’s education, children do better. Supporting parents is a way of improving their children’s life chances. It is therefore crucial for schools to be prepared to help parents to meet their responsibilities.
Parent Support is intended for use by any member of school staff who comes into contact with parents. This could include headteachers, subject teachers, support staff and parent support advisers (PSAs), amongst others. The aim of the resource is to help these staff to improve the support that they provide to the parents of children in their school.
Throughout this resource, the term ‘parents’ is used to mean mothers, fathers, carers and other adults with responsibility for caring for a child.
