Roles

The current inspection procedure, especially the shorter notice period, minimum time spent in school and emphasis on self-evaluation, means that all members of the school need to maintain a state of readiness for inspection. This makes it more important for governors, the headteacher, staff, parents/carers, pupils and non-teaching staff to be aware of their roles and to know how the inspection process works.

As a starting point, it is useful to ensure that all members of the school, including parents/carers, are aware of the sequence and outline of the process. A presentation to use with stakeholders is provided. This covers the key elements of inspection as well as giving a broad overview of the timescale:
