Introduction

The purpose of this resource is to provide guidance for all those responsible for the management of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). It is designed for people with lots of responsibilities and little time. No attempt is made to provide a history of induction or reflect upon some of the wider educational issues that it raises; it is assumed to be a good thing.

Neither is this a guide for the NQTs themselves: they should refer to the NQT Area. The resource is designed to help managers avoid having to re-invent the wheel and, in doing so, allow them to concentrate on the really important issue of raising standards.
