Context: Drawing and colour

In Year 7, students experience a variety of approaches to drawing. They work from observation, imagination and memory. Variations in scale and different media are explored.

Students also experience a variety of approaches to the use of colour. For example, warm and cool colours, the colour circle, complementary and analogous colour. Processes can include paint, collage, digital media and printmaking.

This is a year of consolidating prior learning from primary school (which can be very variable) as well as building new skills.

Artists and art contexts are integrated into these themes by using appropriate examples of artists’ work as part of the stimulus material to accompany the practical making.
