Identification

Students might be identified as gifted and talented in mathematics using a variety of indicators. These may be quantitative, including data from in-school tests, Cognitive Ability Tests (CATs), Yellis, the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) and Fischer Family Trust (FFT), and they may be qualitative judgements by teachers who know the students and their work.

This section looks at the issues surrounding the identification of gifted and talented students in mathematics.
