Sample sheets
Viewing sample sheets is simple – just follow the three steps below.
Step 1 Obtain Adobe Reader
The first thing to do is to ensure that you have a copy of Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is the software that allows you to read PDF (portable document format) files. Adobe Reader software is completely free. There are also plug-ins available for the more common browsers that allow you to view PDF files directly across the Web. You must download and install an appropriate reader or plug-in before you can access sample sheet files.
For help in downloading and installing such components please see your computer manuals, your Web browser's help, and the instructions that come with any installer.
Step 2 Select sample sheets
Locate the publication you would like to see a sample of. Click on the 'View sample sheets' button on the information page for that publication. If a publication does not have sample sheets available, this button will not be displayed. Sample sheets are only available for published paper-based products. If you would like sample sheets for a title that is not yet published, please call 01223 350555 to receive samples as soon as they become available.
The exact sequence of events at this point depends on the type of browser you are using, the individual configuration of your computer and browser, and the operating system under which your computer runs.
It is most likely that you will be asked whether you wish to open the file for viewing or save the file to a location on your local machine. If you choose to save the file, please keep a note of where you save it.
Ask for the help of a more experienced user or member of IT support staff if you are in any doubt.
Step 3 View the file
You can view the file quickly by simply choosing to open the file. However, if you wish to view the file later, you should save the file to your machine. Once you have saved a file, locate it and double-click on the file to view it.
Please refer to your computer's manuals and documentation for instructions on opening files and launching applications.
If you are experiencing problems, then try to confirm that:
- you have checked that the whole file has been downloaded
- you have Adobe Reader installed on your machine.
Most of our CD and online products do not have sample sheets. Instead, you may be offered the chance to view a demonstration or information site. Click on 'View demo' to access this site.
