The teaching of grammar and writing go together. A proper understanding of grammar empowers children to express themselves and to explore their ideas more fully in their writing. Only by showing pupils how to use grammar effectively can we teach them to communicate creatively.

Informed by the National Literacy Strategy

The Grammar for Writing series has been specially written and designed to help Literacy coordinators and teachers implement the teaching of grammar and writing within the National Literacy Strategy Framework for teaching.

Pack 2: Grammar for Writing

This pack in in two parts. The first part is for teachers and covers grammatical information and ways of incorporating grammar teaching into writing opportunities. The second part is designed for children at Key Stage 2 and comprises pupil sheets to teach and develop grammatical skills and knowledge.
