Investigating a topic is one of the most satisfying mathematical activities. However, many maths teachers find it difficult to incorporate this kind of work into the curriculum as much as they would like, and the recent withdrawal of GCSE coursework may further limit the opportunities for independent investigation and analytical thought.

The Mathematical Investigations series contains a total of 120 outline investigations, set out in worksheet format. The series covers a wide variety of topics, making it easy to introduce investigative work in your teaching.

Flexible format

All the materials are supplied in PDF format with a full copy licence, making it easy to put them on the department’s network and print them off as required. This means that as well as forming a welcome aid to planning schemes of work, they can also be dipped into as extension work, one-off ‘fillers’ or cover lesson activities.

Ideal for KS3 and KS4

Each of the three packs is provided on CD-ROM and contains 40 investigations. The packs come in ascending order of difficulty, from fully structured to very open-ended, to suit different ages and abilities.
