Virtual Visits - Religious Education

Morgan Luck

Bring RE to life

Does your Agreed Syllabus recommend that you take your students on visits to different places of worship? Virtual Visits gives you the opportunity to visit different places of worship via the computer in your classroom. Each visit covers the main features of the place of worship – just as you might view it as you walked around.

At just £40+VAT per Visit for a full site licence, this resource gives the feeling of visiting a special site without major expense. Each Visit provides:

Multimedia resource for teaching and learning

The furnishings, the symbols, the colours – it's all there. There are written descriptions of what is in each photograph, with an explanation of the meaning to believers. Furthermore, there are activities for the students to do based on the visit. And, because Virtual Visits includes additional places, you can compare and contrast.

Core coverage

Each Virtual Visit provides coverage of the Model Agreed Syllabus for that religion, particularly with regard to Attainment Target 1: Learning about religion. Each Visit allows students to explore key objects, places, people and events, as well as seeing for themselves what is involved in belonging to a faith community in terms of beliefs, practices and values.

When using all six visits together, students can easily compare different religions and denominations, understanding their connections and similarities as well as their differences.

Virtual Visits can also be used to support students’ learning following a real visit.

Easy to use and fully networkable

Delivered through standard Web browsers and run on either stand-alone computers or via a network (offering the chance for whole classes to have simultaneous access), these Virtual Visits are designed to be very simple to use, even for the non-specialist.
