Essential guidance
Specially designed to demystify the Key Skills curriculum, this CD-ROM explains how to make the most of the assignments that are intrinsic to the AS/A2 course and how to integrate these assignments into a Key Skills portfolio.
The CD-ROM contains three publications, all aimed at Key Skills Level 3:
Application of Number
The resource includes assessment sheets on interpreting results of calculations, presenting findings and justifying methods. It also covers the wider skills in the post-16 curriculum; working with others; improving own learning and performance; and problem solving.
Communication
This part of the resource includes assessment sheets on oral, written and combination Communication Key Skills. A tracking calendar helps to identify what needs to be done and when it needs to be done by.
Information Technology
The resource includes assessment sheets on planning, exploring, developing and presenting information for different purposes. Includes examples of the Key Skills IT tests with top tips and hints on how to pass the tests.
Makes use of the new QCA datafiles
A sample examination paper is available, based on the structure introduced in 2001 where datafiles are downloaded by schools from the QCA Web site. The resource clearly illustrates how these datafiles are imported into the software packages and then used to answer examination questions.
