An increasing number of teachers have access to laptops but lack the support they need to make the most of them. InContexT: Laptop could be the solution. Delivered on CD-ROM and licensed to each individual member of staff, InContexT: Laptop offers:
- An enormous bank of fully supportive, subject-specific digital material that is ready for use in the classroom.
- An extensive set of personal ICT skills reference guides.
- Help with customising each individual computer to suit the needs of the user.

What does InContexT: Laptop offer?
Classroom resources
These cover subject-based applications of ICT – with over 140 ready-to-use 'kits' of material. These cater for teachers and support staff working in a wide range of settings and with learners of a wide range of capabilities.
Each kit comes with:
- full teacher guidance
- pupil stimulus material
- a selection of digital files.
In many cases, there is specifically written software and the content lends itself well to use with projectors and interactive whiteboards.
- Foundation Stage – Six classroom kits covering communication, language and literacy and mathematical development.
- KS1 and KS2 – 32 kits covering literacy, numeracy and science plus lesson plans for a total of ten subjects.
- KS3 and KS4 – Over 100 kits for Art & Design, Business Studies, Design & Technology, English, Geography, History, ICT, Maths, MFL, Music, PE, RE and Science.
ICT Explained
A source of reference and support to help laptop users understand ICT terminology and develop basic computer 'survival' skills. It covers:
- Anatomy of a computer
- Computer operation
- Software and data protection
- Health and safety
Personal ICT skills guides
These focus on ICT skills and understanding. Each guide shows how to undertake common tasks with versions of Microsoft Windows (98, 2000, XP) and the members of Microsoft Office family (97, 2000 and XP).
Customising your computer
Help with making a PC accessible by choosing your preferred colours, mouse pointer and text style, help with writing and spelling, making your computer talk, talking to your computer.

Individual staff licences for InContexT: Laptop only cost £75+VAT and allow teachers to work at home, at school and with all of their students.
