Departmental CPD

Helping you meet your responsibilities
Providing appropriate continuing professional development for staff is important and is gaining an ever higher profile. It can contribute to both recruitment and retention. However, it is increasingly difficult to find the time or money for staff to be released for external courses or events run in school. In many institutions, responsibility for CPD is being passed to heads of department.
This practical new publication offers heads of department the chance to save time and money, gain greater control and build a greater sense of unity within their department.
Practical, achievable and appropriate
Built around a series of sessions that can be run in a one-hour departmental meeting, it concentrates on important issues and provides full kits of material for both presenter and participants.
Key issues addressed
Departmental CPD considers a range of issues relating to learning, teaching and staff welfare including:
- Pupil behaviour and management
- Differentiated learning
- Improving classroom performance
- Gifted and talented programmes
- Promoting racial equality
- Performance management
- Stress and coping.
Delivered on CD-ROM, the publication includes a range of digital resources, most of which can be edited. These include PowerPoint presentations, plus information and activity sheets for participants. The idea is to minimise preparation time and to offer real support to those leading the sessions.
