InContexT: Further Education Toolkit
Save countless hours
In order to meet the new ILT standards in further education, many colleges are finding that they need to:
- organise staff development programmes in ILT
- offer a range of ready-to-use, ILT-based resource for tutors to use in course delivery
- provide extensive, flexible ILT skills development materials for teaching and support staff.
InContexT: Further Education Toolkit is designed to off all three of these. It forms the core of an OCR-/OCN-accredited, LSC-funded course.
The four special sessions for FE college tutors (see below) can be used on their own as a short introductory course, or integrated into a longer programme using either or both of the 'Skills' or 'Classroom' elements.
Classroom material
This section of InContexT: Further Education Toolkit focuses upon subject learning, and on encouraging tentative staff to use ILT.
Background material
A series of generic introductory materials are provided which act as the foundation blocks of this section. These units can be used as either self-study background resources or as trainer-led INSET material. All of the theory outlined in these resources, and particularly that relating to good practice, is exemplified in the classroom kits.
Classroom kits
The focus behind every classroom kit is always on curriculum coverage; the ILT does not lead the process, it is used as a facilitator. The kits cover a wide range of subjects and are intended to act as appropriate exemplars rather than a course of study.
Skills material
This section of InContexT: Further Education Toolkit contains material that teaches you how to use common types of software. It provides the solution you need for developing your personal competence and confidence in using ILT. The material is suitable either for face-to-face training, training in groups, or to use independently,a and can be used to gain one of two entry level qualifications: ECDL and CLAIT.
Versatile and easy to use
InContexT: Further EducationToolkit uses a very simple and highly flexible approach. All materials are accessed by making choices from an easy-to-use interface, which runs from within a Web browser. The core of the system, including the interface and training material for the basic skills, can be placed onto and accessed via an Intranet or used directly from the CD-ROM.
