An effective learning approach
This handbook is designed to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of Physical Education at Key Stages 3 and 4. Written by an experienced teacher and PE consultant, it presents students with the clear, concise information they need to get the most out of PE from the day they start secondary school.
The Handbook provides a framework for the identification and assessment of the student’s own sporting movements and activities. It also provides them with opportunities to break down their own sport-specific skills, tactics and strategies, record observations, and note key points for the development of their physical performances.
Broad range of activities
The handbook helps to ensure that all students can reinforce and think about their learning as they work to achieve their full potential. The first six chapters have a common structure and cover the following areas for each of the activities:
- Individual skills
- Skill analysis
- Key success criteria
- Factors affecting performance.
These chapters cover almost any game or activity students are likely to encounter in PE lessons. They are followed by two chapters on fitness and physiology, giving useful background information on how to exercise safely and how the body works.
Activities at the end of each chapter help students to check that they have understood the concepts covered. The A5 format means that the handbooks are portable and so are ideal for use both at home and at school. Forms and blank pitch layouts are included for students to complete as they work through the handbook, making it highly interactive.
Discounts on class sets
The books are designed for student use and for distribution through schools. Large discounts on class sets mean that they can be sold on to students at a cost well below the cover price. Inspection copies are available on request – simply call 01223 350555.
