A wealth of ideas
This pack provides students with the chance to develop and practise their comprehension and writing skills. Each unit introduces and explains a particular skill or technique and includes a number of graded exercises for students to tackle depending on their ability. Each exercise should take no more than 15 to 20 minutes to complete. There are examples showing how to tackle each exercise and feedback in the form of answers or assessment models.
The passages for comprehension are taken from the widest possible range of sources to give students experience of many different kinds of writing. They include:
- reading for clues
- selecting relevant information
- analysing language
- formulating answers
The writing tasks demonstrate with examples how to produce successful answers including selecting material; planning and sequencing ideas; finding the right style and tone; and managing time.
