Developing a policy for SEN
Special Educational Needshas been written to help schools interpret their responsibilities under the 1993 Act, plan and publish a policy and then develop their ability to help children with special educational needs.
It is divided into ten main sections:
- What is the Code of Practice? – a practical guide to relevant legislation
- School policy – an explanation of statutory requirements and how to form a policy which meets them
- Governing body responsibilities and how these affect the SEN coordinator

Special Educational Needs is presented in a variety of formats. Schools are thus provided with: information and guidance; INSET material; handouts for different audiences; and useful forms for planning, implementation and review. The whole publication is sold with a licence to copy so that everyone involved can be given all the necessary material and information.
