Introducing William Shakespeare

The Giant Shakespeare Kit is the perfect first encounter for KS2 or KS3 pupils to the life and works of William Shakespeare. It builds up their confidence by allowing them to explore the Elizabethan theatre-going experience, before preparing and performing an extract from a play.

The pack includes two giant outlines and a script to allow the pupils to begin their appreciation of Shakespeare through a series of activities:

• A sixteenth-century map of Kent provides the basis for a lively and enjoyable board game. Pupils glean information about the lives of the strolling players as they make their way along the route, each hoping to be the first back to London to audition.
• Pupils construct a giant poster of the Globe theatre which can be used as a focus for display and gives an insight into the vibrant atmosphere during the performance of a play.
• They then form themselves into companies of Elizabethan actors and prepare and present an extract from Macbeth.

This creative and innovative publication:
