ECM evaluation
The National Curriculum is designed to promote academic and personal development and to contribute to the well-being of pupils by equipping them with a wide range of skills and knowledge. The process of evaluating Every Child Matters (ECM) coverage in your subject will help you to understand how you are already contributing to the ECM aims through your delivery of the National Curriculum, and what more you can do.
An effective ECM evaluation requires input from every department in the school. Each subject, and every member of department, must be well-informed about Every Child Matters and should have easy access to the resources they need. This section of ECM Curriculum Contributions is divided into subject areas, as set out in the
National Curriculum. Each page provides the ECM evaluation spreadsheet and curriculum audit form for that subject, and curriculum resources for extending ECM coverage. Some of the curriculum resources cover the ECM aims directly; others provide a springboard for discussion of one or more of the aims.
The spreadsheets all cover both the current (2008) curriculum and the old (1999) curriculum. Audit forms and strands for the old curriculum are also provided for reference.
