A learning climate
‘Learning climate’ is a convenient shorthand phrase to describe an environment which is suitable for learning. This section explores the main characteristics of a positive learning climate that enables successful learning. These characteristics include:
- consistently high expectations developed through the school ethos
- strategic planning for change developed through whole school self-evaluation
- quality teaching and well-managed learning based on good classroom performance
- carefully modelled self-improvement through reflective practice
- a conducive physical environment.
